Magma (c. 1975)

Straight line, through the heart,
magma flares and wanes
red and orange, brilliant white,
earth its life regaining.

Blue now, phosphorous light
sinking into black -
still some scarlet embers deeply swim,
rising, building height.

Chaos reigns, a new tumult
swiftly weaving, intricate -
tearing, shredding, violent -
subsiding, restless, but subdued.

Moving energy, quick to pass,
never quite at peace,
waiting now, nearing silence,
soon to find release.
